The SRX is a 5-door luxury mid-size crossover SUV that has been Cadillac’s best sold vehicle in US market since 2010. Currently in second generation, 2015 Cadillac SRX model will be the first of next-gen models, even though transition was first planned for 2016.
Standard, Luxury, Performance and Premium divide the lines of SRX’s trim levels. Engine comes as 3.6L V6 option that develops up to 308 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque and is coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission. There are, naturally both RWD and 4WD (besides on entry trim) configurations to choose from.
2015 Cadillac SRX Review
Difference between first and second generation wasn’t that big. Third generation will offer similar, well known SRX to its buyers. Front end will yet again have swept-back fascia and windshield, albeit with new chrome grille and revised headlights. Spoiler-finished roof will remain unchanged, while tailgate is about to be refreshed.
Interior will „suffer“ most of the changes and will be completely refurbished with modern luxury materials that include leather, mahogany and aluminum accents. There’s no need to change the winning combination, so SRX will again have plenty of space for both cargo and passengers, being a long two-row seater. Dashboard will come in two-tone choice as it did earlier and will keep its sturdy design. Center board will feature CUE (Cadillac User Experience) with 8-inch screen that powers audio system with eight or ten BOSE speakers, depending on a trim level. Center stack offers armrest, two cup holders and shift stick that is too close to center board for convenient driving.
The 2015 Cadillac SRX comes with top safety rating just like before and there’s no need to change it. Its front crash prevention ratings were exceptionally good, thanks to automatic collision preparation, forward collision alert and reinforced front chassis. Entry trim will cost at least $38,000, while top tier Premium SRX might go for even $50,000 or more if you opt for 4WD and many of optional features.
Model with RWD fuel consumption ratings stand at 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, while 4WD models have slightly lower numbers with 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. These could only be changed by introducing turbocharged or smaller engines.
Release Date Of 2015 Cadillac SRX
The 2015 Cadillac SRX will bring just enough new features so that it could keep its place on the market. In future, though, manufacturers will have to think about fuel economy improvements and possibility of price-reduction in order for SRX to compete with its German counterparts. More details will be available after the launch that is expected to happen during the summer of this year.
