Dodge Charger is a typical muscle car. These cars were first made in the sixties long before the oil crises, when speed and power did matter and fuel consumption was almost irrelevant. Original model of Dodge Charger was released in the year of 1966. Although it’s maybe not so affordable considering today’s standards it gives an unique feeling to any lucky driver who owns it or at least takes it for a few spins.
There are not so many information’s about this new model of a 2015 Dodge Charger on the internet, but the company officially represented this vehicle on a New York Auto Show, which was held from 18th until 27th of April at Jacob Javits Center. Also it’s speculated that this model will enter the dealership sales around fall together with new Dodge Challenger.
Changes For 2015 Dodge Charger
At Chrysler they gave some hints about the new model, especially about the body of the car which as they say is going to change drastically. Looking at the images we have here we can easily agree with this statement. Dodge announced that ever body panel is going to be redesigned and that it’s going to give much more modern look to this car, although some retro details will be added too. As you can see on the available photos of the car’s new front it’s obvious that Dodge wants to bring the retro 70’s extended hood look back.
Crosshair grill is narrower in this model and looks glossier and as we can see on teaser photo it goes all the way under the upper bumper. Bumper is redesigned. Headlamps also changed a bit. Now they look smaller, with integrated LED day-lights. Interior of this model was a mystery until the recent presentation at New York, we did hear that it will offer luxury leather interior, 7 to 8 inch touch screen navigation, rearview camera etc. Most of these information’s are now confirmed and there is no doubt that we are getting one quite modern interior setup.
Main gossip that’s been circling around is about what’s going to be under the hood of this beast. It’s enough to say: super-charged 6.2 liter V8 engine, to figure it out that Dodge means business with this trim. Rumors say that the new motor will pump out impressive 640 hp. Although that’s not going to be an only option, possible buyer will have options to choose between updated versions of current units like 3,6-liter Penstar V-6, 5,7-liter Hemi V-8 or 6,4-liter V-8.
Redesigned 2015 Dodge Charger
Even after New York Auto Show that is closing in the next few days we are not able to offer details about the price for this model. We do expect it to be priced competitively so it would attract more buyers to the brand. Rumors and reports suggest that the base price will go from $20,000. This is something that Dodge will have to do if they want to compete with Mustang that will come at a slightly higher price, at about $22,000.
After seeing all this it’s hard not to wait the official release date, to see this baby in all of its glory. Until then hope this article will feed your curiosity a bit. As soon as we get our hand on one of these models we will deliver our impressions and we can say that we are quite excited to see how it will perform.
