I remember sitting in a sixth generation Maxima and comparing it to the first generation, and remember thinking how proud the people at Nissan must feel, like watching an ugly duckling become a swan, and with every new generation Maxima became more bolder and more aggressive looking. Now with the Eighth Generation on our doors, the 2015 Nissan Maxima looks so different than its first generation that rolled out of factory lines.
The new model is based on the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept and will be bigger in every aspect than its previous model except in height, after all it will be more of a sport sedan then a want-to-be-luxury sedan. When we are getting one sporty sedan this statement needs to be followed with looks and performances.
The new Sport Sedan Concept shows us the direction the company is going, and will sure see more of the design in all of its models in the upcoming years. The design does look interesting and futuristic, with Nissan’s familiar boomerang shaped LED headlights, in the front we get the new standing-out V-motion grille with a chrome details. Under the headlights, the daytime LED lights and air vents can be found. The car looks smoother up front but with sharper aerodynamic curves down its body towards the rear, where two chrome exhaust pipes give it that nice sporty look.
Review Of 2015 Nissan Maxima
The interior will also have that futuristic feel in it, with the high quality materials we are used to from Nissan. It will be interesting to see how it will compare with premium offerings from German car makers that are dominating luxury segment for many years in this market.
As for the engine, Nissan is still keeping it quiet but based on the Sport Sedan Concept we saw, we can assume a similar engine will be used in the 2015 Maxima. Most likely, it will be a tuned version of a 3.5-liter V6 engine with around 300hp with front wheel drive and continuously variable transmission. I don’t expect to see some radical changes made to the engine considering the price range they like to keep and since the current model has been selling so well with a similar engine, I think they will go with the policy “why fix something that’s not broken”. If it comes with about 300 hp then Nissan might want to offer all-wheel drive or something similar for better control of all that power.
There are few rumors and reports that suggest that a hybrid model could be offered but at this point this only are rumors. A hybrid version or even better a plug-in would be a nice addition, but we will have to wait and see, maybe they will surprise us with the offer.
2015 Nissan Maxima Price
The 2015 Nissan Maxima could be in showrooms by the end of the year according to Nissan, and while they didn’t mention price range, we can expect it to be a little higher than the current model due to the new updates and changes. We place it in range of around $36,000 starting price. There are many drivers that would like to see hybrid model also and we will see if Nissan will deliver.
