When we take a look at the 2016 Dodge Challenger it is pretty hard not to like this car even it will come to the market as carryover of the 2015th model that brought many fantastic changes. Small improvements and upgrades will be incorporated in next year model but we know that those will be mostly related to the standard and optional features for trim levels.
The 2015h model was initially delivered in eight trims and you were able to choose between: SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Shaker, R/T Plus Shaker, 6.4-liter Scat Pack and 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker. Not long after these models were introduced we were able to get also SRT and SRT Hellcat versions that further improved especially in the power segment. Same situation will be with 2016th model and we expect it to be presented during the summer of the next year.
We are very pleased to see that the retro look will not be jeopardized with new model and we are getting both interior and exterior with many modern features but still in line with the original looks. We can immediately notice similarities of the 2016 Dodge Challenger with 1971 model but when we take a look little better we will notice many hi tech features like LED headlamps and similar. With split grille, split tail lamps and aggressive stance it is quite obvious that overall looks of this model is offered so it would intimidate any other vehicle on the road with its powerful looks.
Specs Of 2016 Dodge Challenger
From the side those huge tires, especially on more powerful models offer great looks and pronounced rear quarter panels host those wheels. When choosing wheels you need to know that there are nine wheel options and different designs so you can certainly find something you will like. Even if you decide to take the 2016 Dodge Challenger with smallest 3.6 liter V6 engine with “only” 305 hp you will need to be quite gentile if you want those tires to last more than just a few burnouts.
There is no doubt that this is performance oriented vehicle but engine lineup will be added on the end and now we are going to the interior. In this segment we will also notice similarities with 1971 model but this time we will be getting much more tech features and even better materials quality which is nothing strange. Dashboard and center console are slightly more driver oriented with retro looks but with usage of the high quality materials. Small instrument cluster display will show all those most important information’s while the larger center console screen comes with navigation, trip info, climate control, music and infotainment control and much more. Standard size is 7 inches but if you want more you can always opt for the 8.4 inch Uconnect touchscreen version. Both cloth and leather trims are available while the seats will give you needed support with large side bolsters.
Engine lineup is quite impressive and you can choose between 3.6 liter V6, 5.7 liter V8, 6.4 liter V8 and supercharged 6.2 liter V8. Power output of these units range from 305 hp to 707 hp that makes this car most powerful muscle car on the market. The 3.6 liter V6 pumps out 305 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque, 5.7 liter V8 HEMI offers 375 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, from 6.4 liter V8 HEMI we are getting 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque, SRT equipped model with 6.2 liter supercharged engine produces more than 600 hp while the top of the line is the same 6.2 liter supercharged unit able to deliver 707 hp. We also really like the fact that the 2016 Dodge Challenger is offered with both automatic and manual transmission with the paddle shifters that also allows you to gain full control over gear changes.
2016 Dodge Challenger Price
Prices for the 2016 Dodge Challenger start from $26,995 just like it was the case with previous year model and we do not expect to see any increases in this segment. With higher trims prices go significantly higher and if you want the SRT Hellcat model be prepared to spend $58,295 for it.
