Chevy Tahoe, truck based full-size SUV that is very similar to other GM’s vehicles, like Yukon, Escalade or even Silverado, is in fourth generation after 2014 model had shortened market year. The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe arrived to the markets in February of 2014 and will probably compensate on its predecessor’s short life with its prolonged one.
It now comes in three trim levels: LS, LT and LTZ, all of which come with RWD or 4WD option. There’s only one engine and it is 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 capable of producing 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and it is coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to its strong engine and sturdy body frame Tahoe can tow up to 8,500 pounds when properly configured.
On the outside, 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe gives away pretty boxy feel, even though it has improved in aerodynamics compared to its predecessor. It has a strong full-chrome grille and big duplex-like headlights. Roof is flat and sharply cut to pronounce its truck body, while vertically positioned tail-lights melt seamlessly into chassis. Since roof is long and does not drop in the back segment all passengers will have sufficient room, this also implies to the taller passengers. Have in mind that the third row is best suitable for kids and similar.
2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Review
Interior was more thoroughly redesigned and now features new materials, modern look and, overall, more premium feel with leather and wood grain elements. Probably only negative aspect of Tahoe’s inside is third row of seats which is hardly accessible and offers less than average legroom but is still improved in comparison to 2014 year model. Center stack is wide and gives plenty of storage compartment room and quite big armrest. Center board is also huge and has 8-inch LCD touch-screen that is coupled with MyLink infotainment system and offers audio system with internet radio and navigation. Rear seats have optional Blu-Ray/DVD entertainment system, while power sunroof also comes as an option. Safety is taken seriously and 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe comes equipped with airbag system, forward collision alert, park assistance sensors, lane departure warning, lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, etc.
Whether in RWD or 4WD, new Tahoe gives combined fuel consumption ratings of about 18 mpg. With former configuration it goes 16/23 mpg and with latter 16/22 mpg. These aren’t that high, but considering engine power aren’t that low either. It is something that you need to always have on mind when buying a vehicle of this size.
Price Of 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe
Starting at $44,895 for entry LS trim with RWD drivetrain, prices go all the way up to $59,000 for LTZ trim level. 4WD upgrade costs additional $3,000 on all trims. In the middle we also have LS 4WD version that costs $47,895, LT trim goes for $50,000 while the AWD version costs $53,000
The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe got a solid upgrade over its predecessor which was to be expected for a next-gen model. It now has better fuel efficiency, more refined and functional interior and refreshed exterior which should be enough for it to attract new batch of customers and further improve sale results for this brand.
